     Looking Ahead

Serving and Learning Together (S.A.L.T.)
On Wednesday, September 8, we will be packing school kits for Mennonite Central Committee. Please bring the following items (please follow this specific list), pile them in the sanctuary, and we will sew and string bags, and put the kits together after our 6:00 p.m. meal and 6:30 worship. Everyone is inivted! School Kits include: 4 spiral notebooks or notebooks with perforations, (8 1/2 x 11), 4 unsharpened #2 pencils, 1 plastic ruler, indicating both 30 cm and 12", 12 colored pencils, (left in packaging), 1 large pencil eraser.

Fall Sermon Series
September 12 will begin a new sermon series on the book of Jeremiah.

The book of Jeremiah, is the longest book in the Bible and has much to say to the United States and the American Church in the early third millennium. The prophet receives from God a two-part mission to God's people, namely, "to pluck up and tear down" and "to build and to plant." (Jer. 1:10)

This challenging book of the Bible, ascribed to "the weepping prophet," is a record of and reflection on a time of tremendous personal, social and spiritual upheaval that in many respects was "off the map" for God's people, and outside the "safe zone" with God. And yet God journeys with the people through the change. Indeed, it is the resilience of God who can reinvent the world that gives the people "a future with hope." (Jer 29:11)

The sermon series will run through November 7. There will be two Sundays that will not be included in the series. On September 26 the Associated Churches of Moundridge will have pulpit exchange. Eden will host the pastors from West Zion who will bring the message that morning. On October 31 we will celebrate our Harvest Mission Sunday with Ervin Stutzman, Executive Director of Mennonite Church USA. He will bring the message on that Sunday.
